Should books be banned?
I think books should only be banned in public schools, if it is in order to protect younger eyes from excessive violence or influential topics such as religion or identity. I don’t think any books should be banned from public libraries or force private schools to, with one exception. I believe the only book that should be allowed to be banned from public libraries are books specifically discussing how to mislead people to manipulate them or texts which give insight to people on how to construct potentially dangerous items.
I can see how some people would want certain books to be banned across all public settings, for example, lots of religious organizations challenge books, especially those discussing topics of gender identity or sexuality. For instance seven of the 10 most challenged books of 2023 were challenged because of LGBTQIA+ content according to the American Library Association. I believe these books could have grounds for being banned, but I think if they were to be banned, then all religious text and romantic novels should have to be banned as well.
Some possible solutions I have to this are: A. No books get banned. B. Books can only be banned from private institutions. C. All Religious, Romantic, Sexuality, and Gender Identity discussing books are banned. D. All Religious, Romantic, Sexuality, and Gender Identity discussing books are restricted with special parameters put in place to be able to access them.
