Almost everyone has some sort of technology, whether it is a cell phone, laptop, or video games. But the real question is, does it make us more alone?
Most people these days spend a lot of their time on social media, so they aren’t going out and being social in person because it’s more convenient to just send a text. According to Studies from GCFglobal, people have grown more and more lonely, which is having negative effects on societies around the world. According to Technology Addiction Statistics 2024, 31% of American adults say that they’re online “almost constantly,” and 85% of Americans go online daily.
Internet addiction has significantly increased during and since the pandemic. Teens get an average of eight hours per day of screen time. Being 16, I am always on my phone, and I’d rather do that than go out. My daily average screen time is around 10 hours and I’m sure it’s like that for other teens right now. I definitely feel like technology has affected all of us in a negative way these past few years.
To solve this problem you could delete apps, move them off the front screen so they are not the first thing you see. Lastly, you could even set a screen time for apps so you will only be able to spend a certain amount of your day on them.
