Basketball is a prominent part of the Corry community. Last year the boys rounded out their season at 13-9 and wound up losing the first round of the playoffs. Attempting to improve on that, the team is hoping to win 17 or more games and make a run to states in playoffs. Moving down to class 3A drastically improves their chances of achieving their goal.
The Beavers are only returning two varsity starters, this reporter and Senior Karson Chamberlain, so the upcoming players have some shoes to fill. However Corry has a lot of depth and speed on the team. As of right now the team only has four seniors and six juniors with the rest being underclassmen. They intend to play a fast-paced game and out-score their opponents with their threatening offense. The Beavers pride themselves in their ability to score and shoot the basketball. On defense they like to pressure the ball and force the other team to make mistakes.
The team has already been holding open gyms three times a week on Monday-Wednesday, working on their game plan for the season. Most of the players have been playing together since they were little, so the team chemistry is already there. After talking to most of the players on the team, the majority of them have high hopes and are excited for the season to begin.
