Once upon a time, in a small town surrounded by thick woods, Autumn came with bright and wonderful colors. The leaves turned red, orange, and gold, making everything look incredible and fabulous. Kids played in the piles of leaves, laughing and throwing them in the air.
One Chilly afternoon, a boy named Jack and his best friend Kamdyn decided to explore the woods. They wanted to find an ancient artifact that was an item that allowed people to have immense power. As they walked deeper into the forest, the trees whispered secrets, and the air smelled like a crisp apple that was just picked.
Suddenly, they stumbled upon a strange path. It was covered with crunchy leaves, and it seemed to lead to a hidden part of the woods. Jack’s heart raced with great excitement. “Let’s see where it goes!” he said.
Kamdyn hesitated. “What if we get lost? We don’t even know where it leads to!” But Jack’s curiosity won, and they stepped onto the path that was seemingly eerie. As they walked, the sunlight began to fade, and shadows grew and danced around them with a haunting feeling. The forest felt different now, almost alive.
They heard a rustle in the bushes. “Did you hear that?” Kamdyn whispered, his eyes wide. Jack, feeling awkward, hid behind Kamdyn. Just then, a small bunny dashed out, its fur bright against the golden leaves. They both laughed, their fear seemingly disappearing away.
“Lets keep going!” Jack said, feeling brave again. They followed the bunny as it scampered ahead. It led them to a clearing field with the ancient artifact, glowing in the dark shadows under the dimming sun. Jack and Kamdyn gasped in delight. “Look at it” Kamdyn exclaimed, his face lighting up.
As they were walking their way over to the artifact, they heard a screech and a woman screaming . The bunny froze, its ears perked. From behind the trees, a shadow appeared. It was large and dark. Jack and Kamdyn stood still in awe, their hearts pounding. The figure was ghastly and unclear, roaming around the field, and then arose many tombstones out of the ground. “Don’t move,” Jack whispered. They both held there breath. The mysterious figure looked at them, then at the artifact. To their surprise, it walked closer, observing the artifact with interest. It seemed to want to take it.
Max remembered the stories his grandpa told him in the woods. “Maybe it’s just our imagination…but it couldn’t be because we saw the gravestones appear.” After a while the ghostly figure ended up roaming a while, but it looked back at them one last time, as if it was going to attack. Then luckily it ended up leaving and disappeared into the woods. Jack and Kamdyn shared a smile, feeling braver than ever.
Later, Jack and Kamdyn had finally stepped up to grab the artifact and had just gone to grab it, and there was again a screeching sound like before. The wind had stopped and there was only silence, Jack looked over to where Kamdyn was and he wasn’t there. Jack panicked and then he disappeared as well.
Indistinct chatter arose and a child and his grandpa were talking on a bed. The grandpa said “The End” and the child fell asleep with a story that was scary and creepy, for it was Halloween and only a story…
