The Corry Beaver Marching Band competed in Erie on Saturday, October 26, placing 5th overall.
They traveled to a stadium in Erie and went against eight other teams in their category. The band works very hard with two-hour practices every day after school. (Excluding Fridays, which is when they go perform at our school football games.)
This year they went to five different competitions, but the amount they go to a year varies depending on what Mr. McCray thinks is best.
Each year the band has a different theme and this year it was a pirate theme. We talked to Nick Hodak and he told us that every competition is open to the public, so if anyone wanted to watch they definitely could. At these competitions, each band team has an opportunity to win trophies. At this particular competition, our team won 5th place and received a trophy that is displayed in the display case near the office.
Nick Hodak said, “If you want to play an instrument but not be sitting the whole time then marching band is a good thing.”
Our marching band works very hard every year and is always looking for new people who want to join. So, if you’re considering trying out for this group, talk to Mr. McCray.
