It started as a normal night as the kids were knocking on my door because it was Halloween. They were all out trick-or-treating, but I was busy carving the pumpkin I had bought to try to get into the Halloween spirit. I wasn’t really in the Halloween mood because I was having a hard time at work, but I figured since it was Halloween I would carve a pumpkin, watch scary movies and drink hot chocolate.

I started carving my pumpkin so it had a spooky face and I could put it on my front porch. There were so many people outside that when it came time for me to put it out there, people were at my front door waiting for their candy. I didn’t buy any candy to give out though, so I kept my door shut and all my curtains shut. I had just got popcorn and hot chocolate made and turned on my scary movie of the night when all of a sudden I heard something. I look over and I saw that it was my pumpkin talking and trying to move around.

The pumpkin said, “I’m going to come get you.”

“Today is your last day.”

“You will never see Halloween again.”

The pumpkin was also saying lines from the movie I was watching, “Scream.” The pumpkin said hello to me and used my name. I was so scared I jumped up and screamed, but the pumpkin just kept talking. It was very scary so I went to the kitchen, grabbed the pumpkin and threw it out my door. I knew that it seemed kind of sketchy when I bought it because it was shaped like a square and it was yellow, but I never thought something like this would happen. That pumpkin must have been haunted.

The pumpkin has never come back and thankfully nothing happened to me. I’ve been scared of pumpkins since and have never even thought about buying another one. It was really scary to see that and I never thought I would see something straight out of a movie, but I did. Ever since that night I keep my house, windows, and everything locked on Halloween.
