On Tuesday of this week Lady Beavers volleyball headed up to Fairview High School to go up against the Lady Tigers. Corry went into the game with a record of 5-0 in the conference and Fairview with a record of 3-1 in the conference. Both teams are the two leading teams in Region 4 competing for the #1 slot, and Corry secured it.
The starting line up for the Beavers was outside hitters #1 Halle Albers and #14 Grace Allen; Middle Hitters #12 Aubrey Chase and #25 Sadye Dyne; Right Side Hitters #28 Allison Sawyer and #13 Regan Kemp; DS #2 Sydney Woods and Libero #5 Makenna Moore.
In the match-up of the two leading Region 4 competitors, Corry has moved up to the leading spot. It was a game of many rallies and hard play by both teams.
Corry got a strong lead with the score being 6-2 with help from Seniors Sawyer and Chase gaining kills. The Tigers made their way back fast catching the lead 10-9 before it was tied up by a kill from the Beavers. Dyne finished the set off with a kill, Beavers took the first set 25-18.
The second set was tied early at 8-8, multiple kills and aces were led by the Beavers to a 14-8 lead. The Tigers never let up in the set and made their way back 18-19, but service errors by Fairview helped the Beavers with a lead and then won the set after Dyne had a massive block, making the score 25-21.
In the third set the score was tight at 5-4, but the Beavers pushed and ended never let the Tigers get close ending with a comfortable finish at 25-13.
Senior Payton McCray led the team with 18 assists and defensively the team was led by Senior Libero Makenna Moore with 9 digs.
