Last Friday the Corry Beavers football team went up against the Warren Dragon on Corry’s home turf.
Coach Goodwill before the game had an interview with DeeJ Experience, and talked a little bit about Corry’s first game at home on Friday the 23rd against Titusville.
“We knew we were gonna have to score points to win that game,” commented Goodwill. “I really liked how our guys showed up and made plays.”
For this game against the Dragons Goodwill shared some of the preparations they did that week, “We went under the lights at 6 a.m. on Monday morning for a full pad and practice, which was awesome. We had an extended practice on Tuesday and I think that adversity through the week was good to keep us on our toes.”
Going into the game the DeeJ Experience Spotlight player was Senior Middle Line Backer, #6 Mason Savitz.
Broadcaster Dewey Hurd commented on Savitz, “He’s just one of those kids who give 100 percent effort no matter where you put him.”
Senior #5 Porter Kafferlin led the team through the banner with the hammer in hand. Senior #9 Nolan Carey led off the game with the kickoff at the 40 yard line. With three minutes in the first quarter Carey launched the ball down to Freshman #16 Connor Sterling who ran the ball 10 yards for a touchdown.
The Beavers started the game off with the first touchdown, making the score 7-0 in the first quarter. Going into halftime the score was in favor of the Beavers, 35-0.
Throughout the game Carey had multiple solid throws that helped the Beavers with some easy touchdown scoring. It was an easy win by Corry with the final score being 42-6, gaining their second consecutive win, with their record being 2-0 on the season.
The Beavers next game will be on Friday at home against Fort LeBoeuf, with Varsity starting at 7 p.m.
