The Little Beavers pre-school program hosted their end-of-year celebration for parents and family to watch on Tuesday, May 21. The program started at 7 p.m. and took place at the football field on the visitor’s side. Seventeen Little Beavers participated in the program, with their parents looking on from the stands.
The program consisted of the kids picking their five favorite songs and singing them, getting their canvas bags that they decorated with fabric crayons, and in those they got the place mat they ate off of during their snack time, their job stick, center pin, and more. They also got their art book, which consisted of Mrs. Steadman’s favorite works they created throughout the year and their certificate for being in the program. This year each of the kids also got two gifts, moon sand and a hopscotch set to enjoy.
Mrs. Steadman enjoys seeing the kids’ reactions as they are called up to receive their certificates and bags. Some of the kids enjoyed the spotlight, whereas others were more shy and need support to go up in front of everyone.
High school students who are enrolled in the Early Childhood Development course got the opportunity to stand in front of the parents with the Little Beavers to help them sing their songs. This gave the students the chance to take initiative and help the young kids. Some needed comforting, others needed a hand to hold, and some just enjoyed the high schoolers’ presence as they sang. The kids performed five songs which were: “A Big Grey Kitty Cat,” “Old McDonald Had a Farm,” “Time for Snack Now,” “Five Little Hotdogs,” and “A Hippity Hoppity Bunny.”
The evening ended nicely, with the high school students, parents, and the Little Beavers enjoying their program.
