DTTB 10th annual dance recital success

Saturday, May 11, was Dance To The Beat’s 10th annual dance recital. It was held in the auditorium at the Corry High School. There was a 1:00 p.m. show and a 6:00 p.m. show.

Recreational and competitive dancers ranging from three years old to 18 years old have been preparing since the fall to showcase their talent to Corry. All dance styles were showcased and choreographed by Kate Reed (tap), Val Yoder ( hip-hop), Alexa Yoder (jazz), this reporter (jazz and ballet), and studio owner and director, Alex Fox (jazz, ballet, lyrical, etc.).

There was a senior recognition for the three graduating seniors: this reporter, Willow Bowen and Izzy Kellogg. These dancers have been dancing with Alex since DTTB started, so it was emotional for everyone of the competitive dancers and dance parents who have gotten close with the girls over the years. Their plans after graduation were announced, as well as their favorite dance memory, favorite dance, favorite dance styles, how long they’ve been dancing, advice to younger dancers and who they would like to thank.

The audience was welcome to concessions and raffles sold outside of the gymnasium before, during break, and after the recital. Programs were given out that included the order of dances, senior spotlights, business ads and dancer spotlights parents could pay to have displayed. At the end of the performances, Izzy Kellogg Was crowned the 2024 Miss Dancer of the Year, and Tenley Murphy was crowned the 2024 Junior Miss Dancer of the Year. They were voted to win by all of the fellow competition dancers. Each choreographer also gave a few special personal awards to a couple of their dancers that stuck out to them.

All of the dancers and choreographers dedicate so much of their time to perfecting their dances and appreciate all of their supporters.
