Being a substitute teacher is a job that a lot of people take for granted. So to spread a little extra recognition, I interviewed the one and only Mr. King in this teacher spotlight. I found out a lot of information, and with that information I could determine that Mr. King is kaleidoscopic, which means “to consist of a lot of things”… which is a good thing! Anyway, here is a little bit about Mr. King.
Mr. King was born in Pennsylvania in the season of Autumn; he grew up with a brother and two sisters. He attended Corry High School before going to Edinboro University for college. Some of Mr. King’s interests consist of music and off-road sports. One of the questions on the interview sheet was “What would you like to do when you grow up?” which was intended for student spotlights. But, just as a joke I asked Mr. King the question anyway. The wise teacher replied saying, “I don’t know. I haven’t grown up, and I hope I never do.”
I asked Mr. King why he got into the career that he did, and he said that it was because he had so many influential teachers growing up and wanted to give back to them by inspiring students as they did. A place he’d like to travel to would be Ireland because he’s never been there before. His favorite movie is “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,” his favorite color is red, and his favorite song is “The Old Me” by Memphis May Fire. An up and coming vacation Mr. King is going on is visiting one of his family’s farms in Ohio. A favorite quote of his is, “When people talk, listen completely.” – spoken by the American novelist, Ernest Hemingway.
If Mr. King was to compare himself to the personality of an animal, he would compare it to an absent-minded squirrel because he has so much to do, and he gets distracted with other things. A dream vacation of his is backpacking in Montana while hunting elk. His favorite classes to teach are auto, math, science, and social studies. His favorite food is spaghetti, his favorite activity is hunting, and his biggest pet peeve is, “students lying to my face over stupid stuff!”
Some advice he’d like to leave you readers off with is, “It’s not too hard to put forward your best effort in life.”
