Mr. Carney was born on May 15. He was raised and grew up in Corry. Mr. Carney is the oldest of four kids with two younger brothers and a younger sister. Today, he has a wife of eight years and two daughters. His daughters’ names, that he came up with, are Amelia and Eliza.
Mr. Carney attended Corry Area High School and went to college at Mercyhurst University. He also served eight years in the military. In high school, Carney participated in football, basketball, and track & field. Now, Mr. Carney coaches football and this is his 12th year coaching it.
Mr. Carney is a ninth grade seminar and history teacher. This is his eighth year teaching at Corry. His inspiration to teach was his supervisor in the military. He started off teaching special education and then decided to teach history instead. Mr. Carney enjoys history because there is less writing.
In Mr. Carney’s free time he enjoys sports, hunting, spending time with his family, and outdoor activities. His favorite activity to do with his family is watching Disney movies with popcorn. Mr. Carney also enjoys watching the Pittsburg Penguins, Pirates, and Steelers.
Mr. Carney’s favorite quote is “The hard road and the right road are often the same.” Something that is very interesting about Mr. Carney is that he collects hats and he had two deployments overseas in the military. If he were to give any advice to his readers he would say don’t let the hard days win, there is always a way to see the light.
