This past weekend eight Beavers returned to Sharon for Regions, in an attempt to be one of the top four places so they could make it to the PIAA Wrestling State Championships.
The Beavers who traveled to Regions were: Wyatt Swan (107), Carson Braswell (114), Steven Willis (121), Marcus Meredith (127), Will Allen (139), Cody Proper (145), Mason Savitz (172), and Kael Albers (215). The wrestlers had an early dismissal Friday before wrestling started at 5:15 that evening.
While all of the wrestlers competed hard, Junior Mason Savitz was the only wrestler to make it out of Regions. He was able to take second place, sealing his ticket to States this weekend.
When asked how he felt about his performance Friday and Saturday, Savitz said, “I felt good. I think I wrestled pretty well.” This is Savtiz’s first high school state tournament, and he mentioned how he is “super excited” for this opportunity.
Savitz left today for Hershey where he will start wrestling on Thursday at the Giant Center. Depending on how far he makes it, Savitz has the potential to wrestle from Thursday to Saturday in order to place. For those interested in tuning in for the live broadcast, visit FloWrestling.
On behalf of the Beaver Tales staff, congratulations and good luck this weekend.
