On January 12, there was a CTC Competition hosted by Skills USA nationwide for Corry High School students that are in Votech classes. The competition allowed the 25 students that attended to compete for a gold medal and to go to states.
Ryan Anderson, who competed in the welding competition went to compete on Tuesday of last week, everyone else on Friday.
When asked about preparing for the competition, Delaney Nickerson said, “I’ve been in the lab a lot practicing¨
“The most exciting thing would be winning the competition,” Mallory Dahlgren said, who is in the cosmetology program
Delaney Nickerson said that the competition can help her future by giving her scholarships to medical schools.
Lastly, when asked about why they wanted to do the competition, Justin Fay said, “To get more experience.”
The results include: Mallory Dahlgren- 1st (Cosmetology); Mckenzie Amburgy- 2nd (Child Early Education); Amiyah Thompson- 2nd (Child Early Education); Arianna Jones- 2nd (Child Early Education); Carter Linden- 3rd (BPM); Harley Trisket- 3rd (Healthcare); Jonas Anthony- 3rd (Healthcare); Ryan Anderson- 3rd (Welding).
In the healthcare competition there was a group that won, including: Taylor Moats, Lindsey Hasbrouck, Alli Goodwill, and Brooke Sweet.
