Gabby Troyer takes on her 10th year as Corry football manager

Gabby Troyer, a hard working senior at Corry Area High School, has just begun her 10th year as a Corry football manager! There are many things that Gabby has to be proud of throughout her high school years, but her dedication and support to the Corry Beavers has by far been one of her most notable accomplishments. Having started her football managing career when she was only in third grade (2013/2014), 2024 is her 10th year being a Corry football manager. This also happens to make her the longest running football manager in Corry football history at only 18 years old.

As a football manager, Gabby aides the team all that she can. In a way, she is a behind-the-scenes superhero for the team. A few of the tasks Gabby accomplishes as manager are setting up the field for practices/ games, retrieving items and running errands for the coaches, as well as generally helping the team with anything and everything.

Gabby values her position as manager in very high regards. However, she values the relationships that have bloomed between her and the team throughout the years just as high. As a matter of fact, when asked what her favorite thing about being manager is, Gabby responded with, “Creating awesome friendships and spoiling them with cookies.”

She even goes so far as to say, “You wouldn’t even believe how many cookies I have made for the team!” Considering that she has been manager for 10 years, it could only be imagined that she must have made thousands of cookies for the team.

Furthermore, working with the team and watching generations of brothers graduate and join the team has been one of the biggest blessings for Gabby. She explains that her favorite memory of her managing career is “being called the little sister of the team at her 10th grade football banquet.” Gabby says that she holds this memory very near and dear to her heart because over the past two years, she believes she has gone from the “little sister” to the big sister of the team.

Although Gabby has created close relationships with the players on the team over the years, she has also bonded immensely with the coaches. With this being said, Coach Jeff Goodwill has graciously provided his insight on Gabby’s management. Goodwill states, “Gabby is not just an outstanding manager, she’s one of the biggest supporters of the football program. Her passion and dedication to her craft and to our players and coaches over the last 10 years have been admired and appreciated by so many. We love Gabby and will surely miss her. She will be difficult to replace!”

The greatest takeaway that Gabby has learned within her 10 years as football manager is the importance of loyalty. She explains that being dedicated to one team for so long has taught her so much about being loyal to her loved ones and supporting them through thick and thin. The bond that Gabby created with the team is more than just close friendships, they are her family. Moreover, Gabby emphasizes that the quote that best sums up her time as manager is, “Family does not end in blood, but it does not start there either.”

Gabby would like to leave this article with a send off message to the team that she has loved and cared for since 2014. She states, “I will always love and support you guys. I am so proud of all of you, and I can not wait to see all of the great things you do in the future!”
