On Monday, December 18, the Lady Beavers basketball team hosted the Lady Bears, ending in victory for both the JV and Varsity teams.

JV’s game started at 6 p.m., ending with a 39-18 win.

Varsity followed after, with a start time of 7:30. The girls started the game off strong with #3, junior Kaygen Rogers, #22 freshman Grace Allen, #14, senior Kaycee Porter, #24, senior Lauren Thomas, and #30, Junior Lindsey Hasbrouck on the court for the Beavers. Being led by Head Coach Mumua as well as Coach West and Coach Kemp.

The ladies battled hard, keeping the scores close throughout the game, the biggest lead being when the Beavers were up by six right before halftime. After halftime, the lead was no bigger than three points, keeping the tension high. The final score was 48-47, the Beavers winning with a foul shot by #25 Sadye Dyne.

I asked Kaygen Rogers how she thought the team played during Monday night’s game and what she thought could have gone differently. Rogers said, “We played the best we have played this year and we are still improving, we are already way better than we were last year. I think we could have not freaked out so much and slowed down and actually just played basketball and limited the amount of turnovers we had.”

The girls face Cambridge Springs on Friday, December 22, at home. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m.
