The Corry High School swim team competed in their annual Orange and Black Meet last Thursday, December 7.
Each year the entire swim team is divided into two teams, led by their team captains, to compete against each other. This is a fun way to get the year started and see where they are compared to their teammates and their times from last year.
This year the meet started at 6:15. The two teams were led by Taylor Moats and Levi Ehrhart on the black team, and Alli Goodwill and Gavin Maleski on the orange.
Early on Goodwill said, “I feel pretty good, I feel strong.”
Moats mentioned how she thought the black team was going to win because “I feel really good about our lineup and all the work we’ve been puttin in [at] practice.”
The swimmers competed in 12 events Thursday night. While no relays or races were super close, some athletes had very strong showings in their events. Athletes such as Ehrhart in the 200 IM, Brandon Jackson in the 100 breast and Rachel Moats in the 100 fly all had very notable races.
In the end, the black team came out victorious. However, both teams competed very well so early in the season.
If you are free, the swim team’s next home meet will be Thursday against the Union City Bears.
