2023 has been an amazing year for music, with multiple albums coming out such as “Let’s Start Here” by Lil Yachty, “Aftërlyfe” by Yeat, “Pink Tape” by Lil Uzi Vert and “Utopia” by Travis Scott. The big highlight of the year right now is “For All the Dogs” by the hit artist Drake. Selling over 400,000 copies in week one, this album was a big hit and very enjoyable from all of his fans.
With multiple hits like “Virginia Beach”, “Amen (feat. Teezo Touchdown)”, “First Person Shooter (feat. Jcole)”, “Gently (feat. Bad Bunny)” and “Another Late Night (feat. Lil Yachty)”, this album is an amazing listen. From the beats, to lyricism and creativity, “For All the Dogs” is more than an album, it’s a piece of art.
“First Person Shooter (feat. Jcole)” is the first song Jcole has made that went #1. This song also tied Drake and Michael Jackson with the most #1 songs with 13, which is mentioned in the song when Drake says “I’m one away from Micheal, beat it.” “Amen (feat. Teezo Touchdown)” is another big highlight, from the beautiful vocals from Teezo, to the amazing production, I would definitely recommend this song to someone who has never listened to Drake. With only maybe two skips on the album, both being interludes to set up other songs, Drake really proves that he knows how to make listenable music. The album has aged like fine wine with people who didn’t like the album right when it came out are now saying it could be album of the year and it is one of the best albums in Drake’s discography.
The cover was drawn by Drake’s son Adonis Graham, who is 6 years old. Adonis also has a verse on the song “Daylight” that struck the hearts of fans, trending on social media everywhere.
This is one of my personal favorite listens from this year, and I would highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys music. Out of 5 stars I would give this album a 4.5.
