The Corry School District has a new addition to the middle school: an English teacher all the way from Wisconsin, Miss Agnew.
This is not Miss Agnew’s first time teaching. She taught in Alaska for a year, and then taught in Wisconsin at a juvenile correction facility for five years. When asked if she is excited to be teaching at Corry she said, “Yes, I am looking for a place to settle and get to know people. Plus I love teaching, so this is perfect.”
Miss Agnew has her fair share of travel throughout her life. She was born in Alabama and then her family moved to London. She basically grew up everywhere due to both of her parents being in the Air Force. During the course of growing up she lived in North Dakota, Ohio, Alaska, Wisconsin, and now Pennsylvania. She’s traveled to Canada, Peru, Grand Turk, and The Dominican Republic. When asked as a child what she wanted to be job-wise when she grew up, she stated an artist, teacher, or a bus driver.
Agnew is a big time lover of English, hence why she took this English teaching job. Her favorite subject in school was English. When asked why she chose this job of an English teacher she stated, “I like teaching, especially English. I like working with teens, and learning new things, then teaching the lessons in creative ways.”
Her favorite hobbies include reading and playing board games. Her favorite book series is “The Chronicles of Narnia” series, she says that she can’t just pick one of those books because she loves them all. Her favorite movie is “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” Her favorite quote is from “The Chronicles of Narnia” series and it is, “Let us be good to one another.”
