Thursday, October 5 Payton McCray accomplished her first career milestone: hitting 1,000 career assists during the home game against the Harbor Creek Huskies. At the start of this season in August McCray had 543 career assists, quickly skyrocketing to 1,000.
Sixteen-year-old Payton McCray has been playing volleyball since she was in the fourth grade. Now being a junior in high school, who has been a part of the Corry varsity volleyball team since her freshman year. This year being the starting setter for the underrated team. McCray has had a phenomenal season this year and continues to improve every day.
When I asked McCray how she feels about hitting the milestone she said, “I am very proud of myself for hitting this milestone, it was a goal I’ve had for my high school career and being able to hit it was beyond exciting.”
Congratulations to Payton McCray on this achievement and wish her the best luck with the rest of her season and the rest of her high school volleyball career.
