On Friday, September 15, the Beavers’ football team headed to Harborcreek to go head-to-head with the Huskies, who are 1-3 overall for the season. The Beavers made a major comeback being down 21-7 in the 3rd quarter. It was a nail biter, and the boys fought back the whole time making the ending score 29-21, with the Beavers taking home the win.
The all-stars for Friday’s game were junior quarterback Nolan Carey, senior wide receiver Rylan Smith, senior wide receiver Marcus Lambert, and senior defensive end and offensive line Hayden Tomcho.
Carey had two 2-point conversions and a touchdown in the first half that started the Beavers off. Smith scored one touchdown in the 4th quarter and had a total of 143 yards the whole game. Lambert caught a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter and had 101 yards. In the 4th quarter, Hayden Tomcho tackled the Huskie’s quarterback, then caused the play to be a fumble recovery return for a touchdown.
Rylan Smith, and Nolan Carey were the Deej Experience players of the game due to their outstanding performance.
To get a point of view from the star players of the game they were asked, “What are your thoughts about last Friday’s game?”
Smith answered, “It was very exciting and I’m glad we could pull off the comeback.”
Carey stated, “It was a fun game, and there was great team effort throughout the whole game.”
Head coach Goodwill answered with, “It wasn’t a perfect game, we had some things to fix, some mental mistakes to overcome. I loved how much fight we had in us and how we never gave up, and that says a lot about the guys. They had drive and determination.”
Special Teams Coach Carney stated, “It was a good last three minutes, but there’s a lot we can improve, but I’m happy with the win.”
