On Thursday, May 25, the Corry Lady Beavers softball team headed to Penn State Behrend’s softball field to play in the District 10 semi-finals. The game was at 2 p.m. and it was against the Fort LeBoeuf Lady Bison.

The starting line up for the Lady Beavers was Payton McCray on the mound pitching, Kayla Hayes behind the plate catching, Sadye Dyne on first base, Allison Sawyer on second base, Alli Goodwill on short-stop, Kendyll Chamberlin on third, Alyssa Berlew in left field, Kaycee Porter in center field, and Mahra Goodwill in right field.

By the end of the first two innings the Bison were winning 3-0, but by the 6th inning the Lady Beavers had taken the lead making the score 3-4. Then the next inning the Bison came out swinging away, and the ending score for the game was 5-4 with the Lady Bison taking the win. The game was very close and a nail bitter for fans. There were many good hits throughout the game from the Beavers sophomore Payton McCray, who hit an inside the park home run, and Senior Kayla Hayes, who had a triple.

Senior Kayla Hayes gave her input on how she thinks the season went, and how she thinks the game went. “The game on Thursday was a guaranteed win without those two errors in the first inning,” Hayes said. “Otherwise, I thought we had a good game. Hitting could’ve been better but we were against a tough pitcher. We played a good game and made the other team work for the win. The whole season wasn’t bad either. If the unnecessary errors were cleaned up, we could’ve had a winning record. Overall, we had a pretty good season.”

The Fort LeBoeuf Lady Bison advanced into the District 10 finals and they played against the Jamestown Muskies, which was held on Monday, May 29.
