Corry swimmers make a splash at the D-10 Championship

The Corry Beavers Swim team attended S.P.I.R.E. Institute for the District 10 Swimming Championship.

The meet was split up, with half of the meet being on Friday, and the other half being on Saturday. Friday’s meet had six of the eleven events, with the other five being swam on Saturday.

The Beavers had a total of five swimmers qualify for the PIAA State Championship meet, including two relays and one individual swimmer.

Two individual swimmers and two relays made the podium. This reporter made the podium in the 50 yard freestyle, taking 6th. Junior Mackenzie Spence also made the podium in the 100 yard backstroke and the 100 yard butterfly, taking 2nd and 4th place, respectively. The girls 200 medley relay consisting of Rachel Moats, Alli Goodwill, Spence, and Mahra Goodwill took 4th place, with a time of 1:55.29. Their best time was also a new school record. The 400 freestyle relay consisting of Taylor Moats, Mahra Goodwill, Rachel Moats, and Mackenzie Spence took 6th place, with a time of 3:51.92. Both relays qualified for states.
