The La Roche Redhawks won their second AMCC Men’s Basketball Championsip in the last three years. Part of that team is  Corry Alum and Redhawks senior, Branden Elchynski.

Elchynski was a standout for Corry basketball for all years of his high school career. Elchynski graduated in 2018, and after his four years standing out on the basketball team, he took his talents to La Roche . Elchynski was part of two championship teams. The first being in 2021, and the second being this year. An ACL tear sidelined Elchynski for part of his collegiate career, but he returned  and his perseverance payed off. His hard work rewarded him with a ring.

Let this be a lesson for all the student athletes in Corry. Being from such a small town, it can be hard to stand out in the crowd and reach your potential as a player. Branden shows the kids of Corry that through hard work and perseverance, they can achieve a goal of playing collegiate sports. Not only playing, but contributing to a championship team.
